While you may miss being able to go out and socialize with your friends and family members, why not use your free time in order to finally organize your home and home office. Especially if your home or office has a lot of clutter which needs to be sorted.
How you can use this time off stuck at home to get your home and office organized:
Invest in highly practical box storage systems:
It’s well worth considering purchasing handy box storage systems in order to ensure that each item in your home or office has a designated space. Which will make it a lot easier to find the items which you need on a daily basis. As an example, you may want to use a box storage system to store spare items and tools in your garage. Or you may want to use a box storage system to organize files and cables in your home office.
Sort through all of your chargers and cables:
If you own a lot of electronics such as a smartphone, a tablet and a laptop, it’s well worth designating a single draw, to store all of your electronics cables. You may even want to use a labelling system to ensure that you won’t forget which charger connects to which device, in the future. While you’re at it, get rid of any chargers which belong to electronics which you’ve gotten rid of, over the years. As there’s no point holding on to chargers which you’ll never use again.
Get rid of any items which you no longer use:
If there are items which you haven’t used during your time at home, you’re unlikely to use them in the future. So you may want to donate them to a good home or to throw them out. To make it simple for you, rent a dumpster and put all the unnecessary things in and give it to charity, the rest that has no charity value will be considered trash and will be sent to a rubbish removal company.
Consider selling items which you no longer use online:
It’s well worth taking a few photos of any items which you may want to get rid of such as unwanted furniture or books, which you’ll then be able to sell online. This is a particularly great idea if you want to earn a bit of cash while you declutter your home and office.
Make sure that your computer desk is neat and tidy:
One of the areas in your home which you should always keep neat and tidy is your computer desk. Especially if you spend a lot of time working from home. If you’re the type of person who piles items on your computer desk, spend 30 minutes sorting through all of the items on top of your desk. Ideally the only items which you should keep on your computer desk is a laptop, a stand alone computer monitor and a printer. If you keep files and stationary on your computer desk you may want to purchase a stand alone storage system, to keep them well organized and your workstation neat and organized.
So while you may be counting the days until you can leave your home, it’s well worth spending your time social distancing wisely, by using your free time to organize your home and office.
