10 Reasons Why You Need SEO for Your Startup

SEO, eh — I’ll take care of it later.

If you don’t understand why you need SEO, you might hurt your startup. SEO is a great way to help new people learn about your company but it’s going to take some work and time.

The sooner you start working on your SEO plan, the sooner you’ll start seeing results. Leave the SEO plans in the dust and you might experience some trouble. Continue reading this article to learn why you need SEO and some simple things you can do to get started.

1. SEO Can Account for a Large Amount of Traffic

Many websites find that their largest source of traffic comes from their SEO efforts. While Google owns a large part of the search engines and can be a major player for your marketing needs, don’t forget about the other search engines.

When your website is showing up in the search engines, it goes beyond Google. Your website is likely to show up on search engines like Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo and more.

2. Good SEO = Better UX

SEO and user experience go hand in hand. If you want to rank high in the search engines, you need to provide a good user experience.

Optimizing your content for SEO will allow you to provide a better user experience. When you optimize for SEO, you will create clear titles and headlines which help your users navigate your posts and pages easier.

3. SEO Gives You Street Cred

When you show up well in the search engines, people have more trust for your brand. When Google says you’re alright, people tend to agree.

Since there are a lot of things that go into building authority with the search engines, people know it isn’t easy to outsmart search engines like Google. Focus on building high-quality backlinks, providing good user experience and optimizing your content if you want to get some street cred from search engines like Google.

4. Local SEO Helps With Conversions

If you’re a local business, you need to focus on local SEO. When you show up in the local search results, you’re reaching people that are looking for what you have specifically.

Many people search for what they need locally before they go out and make a purchase and you want your website to be the one showing up.

5. SEO Is a Player in the Buying Cycle

Customers do their research and part of that is Googling or searching on other search engines to see what they can find. Make sure your website is visible when they are getting their questions answered and you’ll be in a position to provide them the solution.

6. SEO Best Practices Are Constantly Changing

If you aren’t on top of your SEO strategy, you’re going to get left behind. SEO best practices are changing constantly. If you don’t keep a finger on the pulse of Google’s updates, you might find yourself experiencing a drop in search engine traffic.

7. SEO Can Be Inexpensive

If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to start seeing some serious results then SEO is the way to do it. You can get started pretty easily and it doesn’t cost a lot to optimize your content and do some outreach for backlink opportunities.

8. SEO Will Help Over the Long-Term

SEO isn’t a short-term strategy and when you focus on it and build your authority, you can grow your business for the long-term. If your website continues to provide a good experience for searchers, your site could continue to rank and grow in rankings over time even without a lot of additional content.

Stay consistent with your SEO strategy and you’ll find yourself reaping the benefits for years to come.

9. No Page One = No Clicks

If you’re stuck somewhere other than the front page, you’re not getting any clicks. When was the last time you said, hmm… there isn’t anything I want to see on the front page, so I need to click through to the second page? Never?

When you work and get your page to the front page, you’re on the right track. If you really want to start seeing traffic from your SEO efforts, you need to be in the top three when the search engine results come up.

10. SEO Helps You Uncover Customer Behavior Data

When you’re doing SEO research, you can’t help but uncover some juicy data. When you’re just starting your business, you need to learn as much about your customer as you can and SEO is a great way to do this. You’re able to work on your SEO efforts and you’re able to do some research regarding your audience behavior.

There are many SEO tools that have free trials of their services. When you use these, you can see what keywords your audience is using to find your services or those similar to yours.

When you discover what people are interested in, you can create optimized content that will allow you to show up in the search engines even more. The more comprehensive the information you offer on your site is, the more likely it is that Google is going to serve your site up in the search results.
