Your Business: Work From Home or Brick and Mortar Location?

Starting a business is a big move. For most people, it is a long-term investment. Therefore, the decisions you make regarding your business can determine its life expectancy.

When starting a business, one of the decisions you probably have to make is whether to start with a brick-and-mortar office or work remotely from your home. With the advanced technology and market complexities, more people opt to run their business remotely. You can add a sliding door with MWE rolling hardware and add other features to make a successful office.

Besides, in the wake of COVID-19, companies were forced to either shift to remote working or shut down. If you have your doubts about remote working, the benefits below should give you better insight.

1. Minimizes Cost

When you have a startup, you are working on a specific budget most of the time. Going beyond the budget ends up straining other areas of your business operations. One of the sectors you can save on cost may be avoiding rent payment. When you work remotely, you avoid such costs and channel those funds to the core of your business. Besides, you also save on commuting prices since remote working implies working from any location. You can use emails, phones, and the internet to reach your clients.

2. Flexibility

You enjoy more flexibility when you operate your startup from a remote area. You get to log into your work conveniently and perform during your suitable hours. Besides, your clients need not come to where you are for meetings as they can be held from any location. If you were used to the nine-to-five routine, you might find this favorable since you can even extend your working hours without feeling inconvenienced. Since you do not have to waste time preparing and commuting to and from work, you get more time to work on your projects.

3. Increased Productivity

Studies have shown that people get to be more productive when they work in an environment that suits them. You may not have enough funds to have a company building when you are starting up. As a result, you may have to resort to renting a space or cubicle. Since it is a shared space most of the time, you notice that the environment may be noisy. Concentrating on your work, therefore, becomes a challenge. Working remotely eliminates such distractions since you can choose a quiet room in your house to operate from. Consequently, you get more time to attend to your projects and experience increased productivity, resulting in increased returns.

4. Better Communication

It is no doubt that communication is the basis of any successful business. Therefore, when you have a startup and communicate with your employees or with your customers, you need to ensure that it is effective. Most enterprises prefer face-to-face communication to achieve this. However, with the new and improved technology, there are different ways you can communicate with your stakeholders without necessary meetings.

Most customers prefer going online to search for additional products or services. You may need to consider virtual communication such as emails or video conferences. Your clients and investors may even find this method to be more effective as they need to meet them physically gets eliminated.

5. Access to Better Talent

There is a lot of untapped talent from people who prefer to work odd hours or in solitude. They include people with the role of caregiving, those with disabilities, racial minorities, and introverts. Most talented people today, especially developers, prefer to work from home. Since you have a startup company, it gets pretty challenging trying to attract the best talent in the market, especially since their prices are high.

When you consider going for those who work remotely, their prices can be relatively low and still offer quality delivery. Besides, you get to experience less turnover rate with your employees. There are those employees who may be forced to relocate to other regions. However, you will be sure to retain such talent if your employees work remotely since there is no limitation to location. Therefore, you get to grow a successful company having this kind of talent within your startup.

The world is changing, and it is time that businesses adapt to the dynamics. With changing times, more companies are shifting to remote work. Therefore, you get to be still quite competitive regardless of the small work culture. Besides, with this culture implemented from the onset of the company’s start, it never has to change even when it expands.
