Packaging For Cannabis Concentrates: What, Why, And More About It

During the 2020 elections, the people of New Jersey and Arizona in the US voted for the legalization of marijuana for adult recreational use. Whereas, the people of Mississippi voted for its medical use. And, now fifteen states have legalized its use for recreational purposes and thirty-six states have allowed its medical use.

When it comes to the consumption of cannabis, it is very important to recognize the factors such as its packaging. Rightly packed weed is more likely to stay fresh for a longer time. But, before we tell you about the importance of first-rate packaging, let us introduce you to cannabis concentrate.

What are cannabis concentrates?

The cannabis plant has a number of complex compounds and chemical substances that are used in plenty of products. The presence of these compounds brings out a change in the psychoactive effects of marijuana products. The most advantageous compound that is found in the cannabis plant is known as trichomes.

A cannabis concentrate is a product that is formed by the collection of trichomes. It is available in various forms such as shatter, crumble, resin, wax, oil, and hash. The cannabis concentrate has a high concentration of THC content (about 80%), while the regular flower has 10-25% of it.

How is packaging for concentrates different?

Doesn’t matter if you are purchasing it from the medical dispensaries or making concentrates on your own, what matters the most is its storage. The material and the container being used for its storage should be appropriate enough to keep it in the best condition. The right packaging of the cannabis prevents the degradation of the cannabinoid and preserves the medicinal properties of the weed. Besides, concentrate packaging has so much to offer that you might didn’t know, including:

  1. Preservation of the concentrate’s potency
  2. The retention of the flavor
  3. Protect it from the outside elements such as air, humidity, and light.

Can I Use Any Material For Concentrate Packing?

In simple words, No. You cannot use any material for concentrate packing. Every material has different properties and they present different benefits for the contents within. For example, pre cut wax paper is usually used for shatter and hash. It keeps the oils intact while allowing the aroma to be preserved at the same time. Although there are many packaging materials available for cannabis concentrates, there are few things that you need to consider before choosing any:

  1. Choose a material that is suitable for long-term storage.
  2. The type of cannabis concentrate you are going to keep in the container so that it doesn’t get stick to the sides of the container’s surface.
  3. Choose a material that has the capability to keep the concentrates fresh even at high temperatures.
  4. Consider getting a material that has a variety of sizes to fulfill your application needs.

What to Look in A Packaging Material?

Now you know what to choose in packaging material. All the above-mentioned points are congregated in the silicone-coated RAW parchment paper. This paper is cost-effective and ideal for concentrate storage. For example, hash, shatter, and even keef can be easily preserved in parchment papers.

Now you are aware of what and why’s about cannabis. Because cannabis concentrate has a high THC, it is very critical to consume with caution. And, one of the important factors to consider is the right packaging with the proper material. Always, remember that you do not overdo it.
