Go Politically Correct: 5 Examples of Socially Responsible Marketing

Going Green is just one example of the impact of socially responsible marketing. Companies like Google and Nestle are reducing their carbon footprint and increasing their bottom line.

Profit isn’t the only reason that being socially responsible in your business practices has an impact. Millennials and Gen Z seek out companies that are socially responsible and want to work for them. This creates a highly dedicated workforce in most cases.

So if you are looking to capitalize on socially responsible marketing, then read on to learn more.

Socially Responsible Marketing

Don’t start off will all of these examples, make sure you choose the ones that speak to your company, its mission, and culture. It is better to start with one and do it well than do all 5 and do them poorly.

1. Partner with a Non-Profit

Take the National Football League and American Cancer Society’s Crucial Catch, as an example. Together, they have been working on fundraising, education, and awareness initiatives. The ultimate goal is to catch cancers early when treatment is the most successful.

This partnership helps both the organization increase awareness and is a successful example of large organizations working together towards a common goal.

2. Go Green

There are many ways you can go green within your organization. This type of initiative can be small, such as moving to a paperless office system, or large like replacing a fleet of cars with electric or hybrid versions.

This type of action can not only help improve your brand awareness and respect, but it may also help your employees reduce their carbon footprint outside of work as well.

3. Volunteering in the Community

Find a cause that is dear to your community, your employees, or is allied with your mission and support them. Provide paid time off to employees to support the cause. The word of mouth advertising and standing in the community will pay off in the long run.

4. Ethically Source Products

Depending on your line of business, this may be tougher but look for ways to incorporate fair trade and ethical labor practices into your company. It may cause the price of your product to rise but many consumers are willing to pay more for products that and ethically produced.

5. Be Authentic

This may be the best, and hardest, type of socially responsible marketing. You shouldn’t just “greenwash” practices and hope that no one finds out. Greenwashing is a term used to describe actions that claim to be socially responsible, but in fact, are not.

Make an honest commitment to social responsibility in your business practices and it will pay off in your marketing efforts and bottom line.

Now that you understand why socially responsible marketing is so important in our modern age, this digital advertising agency is one to explore.
