If you’re new to the workforce and feel just as lost as we all once did, don’t worry. There’s tons of great advice out there for you, including this article. Sometimes, corporate flowers are a great business gift. Other times, not so much. It usually just depends on a lot of things like your relationship with the person you’re getting them for, the occasion, and whether they’re allergic to pollen or not!
The great thing about flowers is how a single bouquet can say a lot. From expressing gratitude to telling someone they’re not really your favorite, they have a lot of range. That said, you’ll need to do a little bit of research to find the right flowers.
Keep reading for our argument about why flowers are a great business present, and for some alternatives if you aren’t convinced.
They’re Versatile
Have a new business deal to finalize? Is it a colleague’s birthday? Say you’re happy to know them or congratulate them on a job well done with a bouquet of cheery roses or hydrangeas. Peach and yellow flowers convey joy and gratitude, and so do flowers like tulips, lilies, and daisies.
You can even thank someone for understanding with hydrangeas, and express your sympathy with the help of some orchids.
They can Help You Get Noticed
If you’re hoping to get that promotion, or just want to stay in your boss’s good books, you’ll want to get noticed first. What better way to do so than by going the extra mile with your well wishes by accompanying them with a simple but tasteful bouquet?
If you do this, your boss will definitely remember who you are, and maybe even come to like you. Eventually, this puts you in a great spot to ask for that promotion or that raise.
Be careful though, this kind of thing isn’t always viewed as appropriate and acceptable in a lot of workplaces, and might largely depend on your relationship with your boss and colleagues.
Even if you can’t give your boss a present by yourself, you can always get together and get them roses and a present for things like their birthday or Boss Day.
Make Employees Feel Appreciated
Simple, thoughtful presents are a great way to make your employees feel appreciated and to motivate them to do even better. While things like a nice watch or taking them out for lunch can do the trick, you can also send them a nice bouquet.
This is where things get tricky – choose the wrong flowers, and your employee or their coworkers might get the wrong idea! Try going for cheery colors and seasonal flowers – definitely keep away from red roses!
Make Your Associates Happy to Work with You
If you’re getting a gift for a business associate of equal footing, sending them a bouquet along with the actual present is always a good idea. Accompanying anything that you feel they’d love- like a basket of seasonal fruits, or any other gift basket – with a bouquet will make them smile and feel glad they’re working with you.
Liven Up the Office
Sometimes, small and kind gestures are all that is needed to make working with your colleagues feel like they’re your friends. Get them flowers on their little wins, like their birthdays, or to wish them well when they’re sick.
You can do this with the rest of the office or by yourself – it hardly matters with colleagues of equal standing, but it’ll definitely earn you a friend at work.
Accompanying Gifts
If you want to send something along with the flowers, or if you just want to skip the flowers entirely, you can get something else for your work buddies, associates, and bosses.
Think about their own personal likes and dislikes, their age, and interests. If they’re a chocolate lover, maybe send them some good quality chocolates with the flowers, or cufflinks, or maybe a high-quality bracelet.
If you don’t want to buy any flowers entirely, you can opt for getting them a plant – it’s a generic, low maintenence, and sincere gift.
