A Brief Guide to Color in Design for When You Make Your Logo

According to a recent study conducted by the University of Loyola, 80% of brand recognition takes place due to the color used in a logo. Not only that, but 60% of people decide whether or not they like the message that a website or business is sending based solely on the color of their logo design.

Clearly, using the right color in design is a crucial- and often overlooked- step of branding a business. Here, we’re going to talk about how to make your logo stand out by using color psychology and popular color schemes. Read on to learn some tips on how to brand effectively and get more traffic to your website!

Use Color Psychology

In order to ensure that your logo does what you want it to do, you’ll need to use color psychology when designing it. In simple terms, this is the idea that colors can be used to make people feel a certain way. For example, looking at yellow has been psychologically proven to make people feel energetic and excited for the day ahead. Color can affect mood and make people act in certain ways.

If you run an athletic company or a travel agency, you likely want your brand to make people feel energetic. Yellow is a good choice for you. However, other colors like red make people feel loving and passionate, so if you’re a business marketing products that you want your customers to become passionate about, this may be the correct choice.

Stay True With Blue

Let’s just cut to the chase, though: while there are a lot of great colors that you can use for a logo, nothing is quite like blue. If you were previously unaware, blue has been the favorite color of people worldwide for basically ever. It’s a calming color, and it gets people in a more trusting mood.

As you can imagine, that makes blue the perfect color for building brand loyalty. Using blue is likely to make people trust your brand. The numbers back this up, too: blue is the most well-liked web design color for both men and women, with 57% of men and 35% of women citing it as the best color for brand marketing.

Popular Color Schemes

If you want a few more random facts about popular color schemes before heading off to the logo maker, this is your section.

You’ll want to use a minimalist color scheme to create a modern logo. This means that you’ll only want to use multiple hues of one color- sky blue and navy blue, for example, are the perfect combination. You can also incorporate black or white if you like.

Also, Make sure that your logo doesn’t clash with the colors you plan to use for your home page. Better yet, just design your website after the logo to make sure that they go together.

If you manage to use these tips, you’ve already taken the first steps toward successful branding!

Use Color in Design Correctly

While there are a huge number of colors to choose from when creating a brand logo, there are scientifically proven ways to make your logo more memorable and effective with various hues.

Now that you know how to use color in design, it’s time to get some more tips on how to make your business as appealing to consumers as possible. Check out the ‘blogger lifestyle’ tab on our home page to get some more insight on how to design a webpage that appeals to potential clients.

Good luck!
