A Beginner’s Guide To Business Cloud Computing

One of the biggest buzzwords that have resulted in a part of the advent of the digital age is cloud computing. The concept of being able to host computing processes on the cloud, and alter your computer requirements on the go, has revolutionized many an industry.

Cloud computing, however, is an industry with a high barrier to entry. It doesn’t involve simple concepts, and most those who work in the industry have significant experience or a wealth of training-based certifications.

That’s exactly why we’ve made this brief cloud computing tutorial. In it, we’ll introduce you to the industry of cloud computer so that you as a small business entrepreneur can reap its benefits without having to delve so far deep into the concept that you lose yourself.

What is the Cloud?

The reason why the term cloud was coined is actually fairly simple. A specific diagram when drawn looks like a cloud. This diagram comprises end-users and a service provider. The cloud is the intersection of the two.

What are the Benefits of the Cloud?

You’ve no doubt heard that cloud computing is the next best thing since sliced bread. However, few know the specific benefits associated with the practice. Here’s a few just to start.

First off, your IT infrastructure costs are lower because you can share them communally with other companies that utilize cloud computing.

Improved performance is also a common benefit that companies see. This is because you have access to a wealth of computing resources that you would not have had if you set up everything physically.

Fewer maintenance issues result due to the nature of the cloud. And if ever an issue does result, it’s likely that your cloud provider’s IT support will be able to take care of it quickly and efficiently with minimal impact on your company’s operations.

The cloud can also issue instantaneous software updates. If you so choose, you can segment the roll-out of an update as well to different parts of your audience.

Types of Cloud Computing

There are four specific types of cloud computing.

Firstly, we have a private cloud. This is where computing resources are given to just one company. These resources are all used solely by that company and are not shared communally with other organizations to reduce costs. The general use case for this is whenever intra-business interaction is a requirement.

Second, we have a community cloud. The very opposite of the private cloud, the community cloud is able to host multiple organizations at once without posing a security risk.

Third, the public cloud is that which is often used for B2C applications. Social media websites will leverage this type.

Last, the hybrid cloud exists. It’s a combination of all of the above, depending on a specific application that an organization uses.

A Simple Cloud Computing Tutorial

This simple cloud computing tutorial should have opened your eyes to the benefits and basic types of cloud computing. You’re all ready to start reaping those benefits within your organization.
