4 Reasons Your Restaurant Is Getting Poor Reviews

You can’t please everyone. Yet, when you’re a restaurant, the last thing you want to do is displease customers. Bad news travels fast—especially in the world of food. All it takes are a few negative online reviews, and you’ve got yourself a poor reputation amongst customers. Rather than speculating about why your customers are avoiding your restaurant, you should instead identify exactly what the problems are.

By pinpointing where you can make improvements, you can hopefully rectify the problem and get customers to leave you better reviews. Take a look at some of the most common reasons why customers leave bad reviews on restaurants.

Health Issues

If you have a pest problem in your restaurant or if someone gets sick from your food, then it won’t be long until people start whispering about the less than sanitary conditions. It isn’t a matter of poor service that we’re talking about— it’s your customers’ well-being. Your reputation will suffer for quite a while health issues are raised.

Make sure that your whole team is on board for keeping your restaurant in tiptop shape. The only way to do so is to create a cleaning system that everyone carefully follows. Even forgetting one small step in your cleaning procedure can lead to a major issue in your health inspection.

Prices

In many cases, everything may be going right for your restaurant except the price attached to it. Overpricing your plates is a huge mistake. A lot of people simply aren’t willing to pay top dollar unless your food is exceptional. If you charge high prices, be honest with yourself about how exceptional your menu truly is to deserve its prices.

It’s important to ask your customers to fill out surveys occasionally. It’s the best way to determine whether they feel your prices are fair.

Poor Location

You can have the best food in the world, but if your location takes forever to get to, then people are going to start mentioning it in their reviews. Remember, reviews aren’t just about the food itself—they’re about the experience as a whole. If customers have to drive to an inconvenient location, it will affect their overall experience.

Waiting Times

If there’s one thing customers don’t like to do when they’re hungry, it’s waiting. If you start to notice that people are leaving reviews referring to how long they had to wait for their plates, then it’s time to start thinking about changing things up. No matter how good your food is, customers shouldn’t have to wait more than 30 minutes for it. Most people agreed that they’d rather go somewhere with less delicious food but a quicker turnaround time than wait longer for something even if it’s delicious.
